England is well connected by rail and many towns are quite easy to get to. For an adventure outside the city check out these suggestions.

Cambridge
There is much to see and do in Cambridge. Just an hour away by train, the town is home to the University of Cambridge, one of the oldest educational schools. Queen's College has beautiful grounds and a 17th Century sundial that gives the day, time of year, and month. The giant Ely Cathedral is a stunning sight. Trains depart from Kings Cross Station.

Canterbury
There is so much to see in Canterbury. The Canterbury Cathedral is a stunning architectural piece. The Canterbury Tales allows readers of the fabulous story to step back in time and meet the characters from the book. Westgate Gardens offers beautiful flowers and views of the Medieval West Gate and Tower House. You can travel to Canterbury by train from London's Victoria Station for less than £20.There are some Light Railway trains that are quite slow, but offer a classic way of seeing the Kent countryside.

Stonehenge & Bath
Two hours from London by coach, a trip to Stonehenge is like no other! Located in the Salisbury Plain, the stones have been standing for over 5,000 years. The nearby town of Bath offers visitors a chance to step back in time and see first-hand the ruins of a real Roman bath. Coach tours leave daily from Victoria Station and include entrance to Stonehenge, the Roman Baths, and the Pump Room.
